Abstract: In this webinar the main separation techniques for analysis of distributions in polyolefins are reviewed, with a focus on recent developments. Principles and applications of high temperature gel permeation chromatography (HT-GPC) with infrared (IR) detection will be discussed. We will introduce briefly the importance of chemical composition distribution (CCD) in polyolefin copolymers or blends as well as the techniques for CCD determination.
Preparative fractionation is also a very important topic in R&D so we will and this will be illustrated by some examples of fractionation using different methods. Finally, recent developments which allow implementation of new instrumental techniques for process control and product quality control will be introduced, together with practical examples showing the advantages over traditional tools.
Alberto Ortin received a Master's Degree in Electronics Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, and a Master's Degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Valencia. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the same University of Valencia in 2014.
He is now scientist at Polymer Char, where he has 25 years of experience in the development of instruments and detectors for polyolefin characterization.
